Basements and mold

When your area has a substantial amount of rain and you have a basement, be sure to check the entire basement for moisture, especially around the perimeter of the exterior walls. When a buildings sump system either is overwhelmed with excessive water or stops working, the water will come into the space along the walls where the floor and walls meet. Also, check under shelving and storage units. You may have taken on some water, but the surface water may evaporate in areas where it is warm, such as utility rooms.
