Structural wood replacement due to a fire

Sometimes in fire affected homes, the fire damages structural wood such as ceiling joists. In the before photo you can see that some of the ceiling joists are burned almost completely through.

The process to replace structural wood includes notifying the local building department of the extent of the damage and obtaining reconstruction permits. In this job, the permit requires that we have the fire damaged ceiling joists properly replaced and then we need to call the city to have an inspection of the structural framing to make sure that the work has been done in compliance with the building code. This attention to detail ensures that your home will be safe and will continue to protect your family for years to come!
