Hidden mold
Sometimes we will receive a request for a mold inspection because the homeowner smells a musty smell. At first no mold is visible, and we need to look a little harder. In this basement, we needed to remove some base cabinets and we would some pre-existing mold that started to grow again once it got wet.
Our investigations let us to loosen up some paneling and we found mold that had started growing between the paneling and the drywall. After an extensive inspection, we found that we needed to remove all of the exterior wall surfaces and insulation as well as many of the interior walls.
After all of the moldy materials were removed and the structural surfaces cleaned and dried, this home was ready for reconstruction!
